Features:

Aumentos Reef is located within Monterey Bay, east of the Inner Chase Reef. Aumentos, meaning enlargement in Spanish, is an appropriate name for this reef. Large blocks of granite make up the majority of this reef, some reaching as high as 40 feet. The depth range of the entire area is between 40 and 90 feet. The reef is covered with Corynactis, bryozoans, and yellow zoanthid anemones along with sponges. These add brightness and incredible patches of color to the reef, and keep divers from being able to see any of the rock within. The shallow potion of the reef has many broken areas of rock, which provide interesting cracks and crevices for sea life to inhabit. The most beautiful portions of this reef are located around 50 feet. Schools of small blue rock fish, sheephead, cabezon, lingcod, and surfperch can often be seen here. Although this is a great location for photography, it is defiantly not an area where one would want to do any spear fishing. This is a beautiful dive for observing the beauty that the ocean has to offer.
