Boomerang Bank is located six miles north of Point Bennett within the front-side seamounts of San Miguel Island. A long channel runs through the middle of Boomerang causing a strong current to occur at some points along the dive. At deeper locations, this current is generally not present. The depth range in this area is between 60 and 130 feet. The large walls at this location are covered with invertebrates including anemones, sponges, tunicates, sea stars, muscles, scallops, tube worms, and sea urchins. All this coverage provides a great habitat for the brittle stars, nudibranchs, crabs, and snails that can commonly be seen. In the calm portions of the water, china, gopher, copper and vermilion rockfish can be found along with lingcod and wolf eels. Throughout the region, blue and olive rockfish, garibaldi, and surfperch can also be seen.
