El Rey

Fast Facts

Average Rating: 5
Average Depth: 90 ft.
Max Depth: 90 ft.
Features:

The El Rey, a 110-feet kelp cutter barge is part of Wreck Alley and was the first ship to be sunk in this area. She was sunk in 1986 and today lies in 90 feet of water. Although most of her structure has collapsed and it is difficult to imagine the original ship, the El Rey is heavily populated with invertebrates and also attracts bigger fish. This is a particularly beautiful spot for those interested in macro photography. Strawberry colored anemones, gorgonians, bryozoans, and many starfish have collected in this site over time. The wreck itself, the main attraction, has a heavy covering of orange, brown, and green cup corals. This is a beautiful dive.
