New Hope Rock is located about mile northwest of Point Loma. This kelp dive area provides a home to lobsters, scallops, octopuses, nudibranchs, garibaldi, sheephead, and anemones. Calico Bass and olive rockfish can be seen hiding among the kelp as well. Large boulders reaching up to 15-feet high allow for easy navigation. This is an especially good dive for divers who are first venturing in to the water of Southern California and are not adjusted to kelp diving. Depths in this area range from 20 to 50 feet. Strong currents may occur at this location.
