Features:

The Breakwater is a man-made jetty which extends 200 yards. This is a great dive for experiencing the majority of what is seen throughout the Monterey Peninsula at a fairly safe location. This is one of the safest entry points in the Monterey area. Although it is recommended that novice divers stay in 30 feet of water or less, this area does have something to offer to divers of all levels. The best section to dive is on the northern side of the jetty. The currents are generally calm and the kelp bed is easily dealt with. A slightly more experienced diver will head down to 50 or 60 feet where they will be able to find many filter feeders such as anemones and sea pen along with nudibranchs. Sea lions, sea otters, diving birds, octopuses and monkeyface eels can be seen playing in the area. Visibility is generally not as good in this area as in other parts but underwater photography is still recommended. This location is also used commonly used for night dives as it is easily accessible and there are many creatures that can be seen.
