On April 12, 1919, the destroyer USS Hogan was launched in San Francisco. The ship was largely based out of San Diego until it was decommissioned in May of 1922. In 1940, the USS Hogan was decommissioned as a high speed mine sweeper. The ship served for the duration of the war and was reclassified as a miscellaneous auxiliary ship in 1945. The ship was sunk of San Diego as a target for bombing tests. The USS Hogan now sits in 130 feet of water. This site offers an interesting collection of marine life and chances for divers to explore all that the ship has to offer.
