You can enter GPS Coordinates in several different formats. The most common formats found in most books and Web sites are:

Format	Example	Notes
NN NN.NNNN	24 59.380	Minutes of degree as a decimal number
NN NN NN	24 59' 23"	Hours, Minutes, Seconds
NN.NNNNNN	24.989667	Decimal number

In the example above, all three represent the same latitude. The presence of and position of the decimal point is important. All other symbols (e.g., ', ", °) are optional.

Very Important: Even though most books and Web sites don't show a "hemisphere" designator for longitudes in the United States, you must enter either a "W" or negative symbol. For example, "W 080 22.920" or "-80 22.920".
