Easy Shore Dive - Hard to Find Parking in SoBe
As of August 1, 2009 there is no longer a buoy marking this spot. However it is about 250 yards due east of Nikki Beach and the 2nd St Lifeguard tower and a little southeast of the white buoy marking the boundary of the swimming area.
In addition to the bar there is a small artificial reef made up of pyramid shaped concrete blocks. The bar is just off the northwest corner of the reef.
As for sea life we saw the usual South Florida suspects - lots of small reef fish.

Hardest part is finding parking...
I went to the bar and had a few drinks with some schooling jacks, snappers, grunts, and tarpon. This is by far the closest shore dive to see a great variety of fish. make SURE you bring a HUGE DIVE FLAG because there are TONS of Idiots in boats and waverunners that love to run over snorklers

Worth the finding a place to park
Well, we'd spent the whole morning north of Nikki beach skimming the surface, enjoying the clear, calm water and upon leaving, we met a local who noticed our snorkels and fins. He suggested hitting the Jose Cuervo bar out towards Nikki beach and said it was worth it. So after looking for a place to park in South Beach (a nightmare at noon on a Saturday) we finally found one and were headed out to the water. The beach is very crowded as its right in front of a few hotels, but the life guards are very helpful in pointing out the bouy. About 15 yards outside the swim area is the bouy; easy to find as it is orange, but remember your dive flag because the area is heavily traveled by people on Jet Ski's making it a bit interesting snorkeling out that far without a boat to protect you. The swim out wasn't difficult at all and you can walk out about half the way. Directly under the bouy is the bar and is easily seen. We skated out just as soon as we got there and didn't dive to the bottom because of a shark we saw. Other than that, I'd say it would be worth the trip, especially if they add more sculptures to the area like planned.

Schools of Tarpon!
This dive is alot of fun. It looks just like in the picture. There is a orange ball locating the spot now, thanks to DERM. This is good for a snorkel or a dive in the clear summer months. Have fun and see ya there.
