Good spot
South Double ledges can be a very good spot depending on conditions. Most of the lobsters are on top or on the upper ledge. I agree with Howard, 4 knot current is unlikely, but we do get a good current here on a regular basis as we are very close to the Gulf Stream. As far as getting tired "finning back" to the group, if you drift dive much, you know that if you're ahead of the group, just find a non-living rock to hang on to and let the group catch you. West Palm and Jupiter are Excellent areas to dive. I feel very lucky to live and dive here.

good review but.....
I am a local diver and dive the dble ledges quit often. The 4 knot current that was mentioned is extremely rear. Usually it's about 1 knot. Lobstering can be excellent and the fish life exciting, but must stop and look. In a 4 knot thats not possible. Try to enjoy the same site again. Later on in the year the current drops considerably.

Stong current rushes you past lots of sand and a little coral.
A quick 15 minute boat ride gets you to South Double Ledges. In August, the water is bathwater-warm: no need for a wetsuit. After descending to 80 feet, don't be surprised to find yourself in a very strong current. Be prepared for only a smattering of small but healthy coral ? exceedingly brown in color. Be on the lookout for rays and nurse sharks. Check under the overhangs. All in all, it was a good dive, but not spectacular. The current rocked us along quite swiftly ? it was at least 4 knots, and kept dividing the group. I had to fin (very hard) back to the main group several times in order not to be whisked away.
