Excellent Dive 5 Stars
Third time on the Duane in the last 5 years - No current at surface and below - very surprised. Vis 80 or better. Highly recommend!!

Strong currents, but AWESOME dive
This was my first wreck dive this deep, but it was quite a dive. The currents on the surface were really ripping. We were pretty much all flags on the rope just trying to get ourselves down, but once we were down, the currents let up significantly and we had a beautiful dive. The vis was incredible and life was everywhere. I only wish my buddy hadn't got low air so quickly (he really sucks it up at depth) because I really wanted to get to explore more than I did. It was an amazing wreck and I can't wait to do it again.

Amazing amouts of life
From all the wrecks that I've dove, this takes the price for sea life. Walls of fish and animals. Watch out for fishing line. Amazing coral growth, and the ship is in perfect shape. Great dive. Prepare to stay at around 110 feet most of your dive. Is deep

Fantastic! Huge Goliath Grouper roaming around
The Ship itself is cool, but there was so much to see life wise. There was a Goliath Grouper that was the size a VW bug. Huge Green Moray Eel, and lots of big pelagics. Current was ripping which made getting down a little interesting, but it wasn't much of a problem once on deck.

Ripping currents
I experienced the ripping currents described in the overview of this site. My own fault for being taken by surprise, good lesson but made for a less than enjoyable dive.

Very nice wreck dive.
This is one of the best wrecks in the keys. It can have mediocre viz and strong currents, but, usually the currents are mild and they make for 100+ft. visibility. Dived this wreck last on 5-24. Current was mild and the viz was endless. Recreational divers will find all they could hope to see WITHOUT having to PENETRATE the WRECK. For the more Tech oriented, this dive will also more than satisfy.

The Crows Nest Grows
5-14-06, Very nice dive. Today we had mild current, you could actually swim against it on the decent. After taking three laps around the upper deck we ascended the Crows nest tower. Light was excellent. Next time you are there save a few minutes for the crows nest, nestled in there is a mini-enviroment that will take your breath away.

awesome wreck dive lush with sea life
Lush with sea life nourished by Gulf Stream current. Awesome dive. Due to strong currents and depth its not for newbiews or those that have been out of the water for awhile.

It is also an AWESOME night dive. The orange cup coral smothering the wreck opens up and makes for a beautiful site.

The first time I dove it there was a ripping (3+ knot) current, strong enough to rip your mask off if you werent careful. I had not had alot of experience diving wrecks in strong currents and found myself quite narked and with CO2 buildup after fighting my way down the line. Comming down the starboard side there was a section where i couldnt find anything to pull and glide and had to swim around the superstructure. i got back to the boat with only 300 psi.

A great experience!!
No doubt one of the best dives in south Florida. Despite the fact that currents can make this site too hard to enjoy sometimes, the USCG Duane can be a wonderful dive. Lots of fish (including bull sharks), it's big enough to impress you but small enough to do the whole ship in one dive (if you know what you are doing). Easy to penetrate and a great view when doing your 3 min safety stop. Very cool dive!!!

Great wreck, great location
This is really a great wreck dive. It's a little deep for the average recreational diver and the currents can be strong at times, but man it's cool!
