Deeper than advertised
This a still a great spot for marine life. Bob's review is spot on but I would add that the depth of this wreck is as deep as 105' and since there is minimal structure your dive should be planned as a deep one. I would further add that there are no mooring balls on any site in Panama City. Local charters have a deckhand or Divemaster roll in with an anchor line minus an anchor and chain directly into a strong attachment point on whatever reef they are on. Since the Tarpon is a preserve and anchoring is prohibited as is chaining in as they may damage the structure, live boating is recommended.

Great dive
Fun dive to see lots of marine life, Beside the boiler there lives a sea turtle ive seen almost everytime ive dove the site. The sea turtle has no fear of divers seeing how she swam right up to us and stayed right with us most of the time.

Historic Site
Actually a pretty good dive if you know anything of the history of the wreck. The boiler is upright and intact. There are some steel plates and ribs of the hull collapsed at the site. The site is located on "hard bottom" that holds interesting growth shell and tropicals. There is a concrete monument with a plaque, seldom visited so not very obvious. This site typically holds a good school of amberjack above, Red snapper on the sand, black snapper working in and out around the boiler. Sometimes brown beer bottles from the original cargo can be found, the last I found were imbedded in the hardbottom. This is a historic site and the artifacts should be left in place. bbb
