Never Disappoints
The entire wreck is constantly cover is marine life. The last time we dove it, the bait ball made it almost disorienting while diving. The giant grouper that lives there gave us all a good shot of adrenalin as no one was expecting to see something of that size staring back when looking down into the ship. Great spear fishing or just sight seeing. Check out our video from our dive.. .

NIce Dive fairly close to the beach. Alot of places to explore.
Fairly new to diving. First wreck dive without my instructor. Vis was about 15-20 feet, alot of life. Snapper, Grunts, Grouper, Triggers, Octopus, AJ's, Spanish Macks. Will be back again to explore more.

Great Wreck site
Great dive site, but is deteriorating as the years go on. The hull is getting thin in spots and wearing away in others, exposing the ribs.
The bow is seperated from the ship, but is as of May 2008 still directly in front of the ship and can be easily seen if the vis is good.
Lots of spots to penetrate, but be carefull as the the ship is slowly collasping and not as many access/exit points as other ships.
This wreck is somewhat close to the pass and is a good alternative instead of going to the Black Bart every charter dive trip.

Cool wreck - lots to see
Impressive ship with lots of marine life swimming around. Explorer friendly with areas to penetrate, but make sure you're wearing some decent gloves for protection. Strong current when I dove the Strength which was another reason for good gloves - my leather palms were shredded.

It will have you talking about it for days.
6/16/07-Dove the wreck at slack tide and it was unbelievable. A large minesweeper broke in two with many points of interest, if you can catch it between the chartered dives. Great visibility is a must to really enjoy this site.

Right at the break in the ship, at the bottom of the break under some sheets of steel. Found an Octopus eating a grouper!!
Great life here!

Good first wreck dive w/ minor hull penetration
I wrote this up before, so instead of regurgitating:
read my overview of this dive and a nearby bridge span dive
I enjoyed this dive a lot - water temp was nice, but I'd recommend a thin skin for the next time around more for protection from sharp points than anything else. Dolphins chased the boat from the dock out to the breakwater.

The other site you get on a PCB dive charter
Usually and inshore charter will bring you to either the Black Bart or USS Strength, and then to one of the bridge spans. As always, these sites can be hit or miss, what for a large nurse shark that likes to hang around under the stern. There isn't much of a place to penetrate this wreck, so most of it is just around the outside.
The Strength has most of the superstructure intact.
