Several steel-hulled lifeboats were salvaged from Liberty Ships being scrapped at the Panama City port. The lifeboats were cabled together and sunk as an artificial reef inside St. Andrews Bay. The wrecks lie in about 25 feet of water just north of Shell Island. Visibility ranges from 5-20 feet. The wrecks are home to lots of inshore fish species and numerous shells can be found on the surrounding bottom. The Life Boats is a safe dive spot for beginners.
