One of my favorites.
I've done several dives on this artificial reef, and I have to say, every one of them has left me wanting more. Be wary of currents, as they can shift and change from surface to depth, and be sure to bring a light if you decide to go exploring. Vis is generally +75' so bring a camera with flash too! Try to get on mooring ball #6, which will put you on the port side of the wreck with the Lifetime Sponsors memoriam directly underneath you. I like to take new divers from here, clockwise around the superstructure. Just a great dive!

What a RUSH! Thrilling dive!
Dove it 4 times in September '09. Penetrated twice. Dove the bow, center and stern. Hit bottom at the stern and saw the props (135').
Awesome dive, highly recommend it.

I have used your site to get all my divers that I take diving to do the same
Everyone that I have introduced to the site has loved it. It is a great intro to the novice diver and advanced divers to become familiar with the dives in the areas we plan. Thanks for the site it is awesome. Even better if there was a better word that awesome.... Thanks Shane

Great Wreck, Wonderfull Vis, Little Current
This was a great dive.
It's great when the conditions are good, and can be a little intimidating when the seas are rough and the current ripping. When the currents are stiff you will hang off the downline. There is plenty to see without penetrating the wreck.

Wow!
It is big, it is loaded with great swim throughs.
I can't wait to dive it again.
My dive buddy landed a SAR helo on this craft while it was active. It was really nice touring the ship with someone who had walked the decks while the ship was alive.
A really big wreck, 100 ft vis, 81 degree water, and no current. Couldn't ask for a more perfect dive.

A must-do dive if in the area!
Dove this 10/27/06 & it was fantastic and I will dive it again when in the keys! Was a little rough hanging on the line while on safety stop at end (felt like I was on a bucking bronco!) but worth it! There was a current anywhere from surface till about 20' down, but on the wreck, no current at the time. Dove w/29% nitrox which allowed slightly more bottom time, but still too much to see on just one dive. Simply amazining wreck due to it's size and condition. Not to be missed if there is litle or no current at the bottom. If there is a current, consider it an advanced dive. If not comfortable w/currents, wait for a calmer day. The US Flag makes for a wonderful U/W photo op on the ship!

Fantastic Dive!
I dove the Spiegel Grove on April 4, 2007 and enjoyed the dive! The SG is so huge that if you want to see the entire ship then you must take several days to do so. I only had one dive opportunity on the wreck due to my boat having problems but it sure was worth the trip out there. There are several large fishes on the wreck, including Goliath Grouper, Barracuda, and trigger fish to name but a few. The current can be hazardous so my advice is to dive during slack tide so you can really enjoy the wreck. That is what I did and it made the dive very enjoyable. Just be sure you are trained and comfortable to dive the depths and conditions that exist on the SG and you will have a memorable dive.

Excellent dive. Worth the trip to Key Largo
The conditions at this site are more typical of north east diving than the Keys. Viz was about 75 feet with a current strong enough to hold you off the line like flag flapping in the wind. Once on the wreck the current settles and the great viz leaves a very comfortable feeling through out the dive. Lots of fish to see and swim through to enjoy. Even a monster grouper defending the bow, jaws wide enough to hold a softball. Great Dive.!

Incredible Wreck! Must See
This has been one of my best dives, the ship is huge, we hung around the superstructure and swam through hallways that are prepared for divers, with many bailout points and guide ropes. Surface current was ripping, so be prepared and in fair physical condition. Once on the wreck you can shelter yourself from the current. Also make sure you dive it with a local instructor/divemaster the first time. It's easy to get lost in or outside the ship.

This is an impressive dive!!
I've dove the Grove at least 10 times. It's great when the conditions are good, and can be a little intimidating when the seas are rough and the current ripping. Once down on the wreck, you can usually seek cover from the current. I've seen 100+ viz, all the way down to 25'. When the currents are stiff you will hang off the downline like a flag in a squall. Take care, you can easily be blown off the wreck. Also, three divers drowned on the Grove in March 07. They were doing penetration and didnt follow the rules. There is plenty to see without penetrating the wreck. Just dive safe and have fun.
