Budweiser Bar

This 167 foot long coastal freighter was built in 1965 and was used to transport dry goods to the Bahamas and Haiti. In July of 1987, she was sunk in 95 feet of water where she sits today, upright with her bow to the South.

Originally named the Olive M, she was renamed the Budweiser Bar after the company that donated one third of the money needed to sink her as an artificial reef.

Structure begins at 70 feet, with decks removed for easy diver access and hull penetration. The propeller is intact. Lots of snapper, barracuda, angelfish, and delicate corals adorn the wreck. There's usually a 150-pound Jewfish that calls it home.

The dive is easy assuming there is little or no current, and the wreck is easily penetrable. Be warned, though, that the area is popular with anglers, and there is a lot of monofilament with hooks on the wreck.
