In July of 2006, I took a trip to Morehead city NC with a group of friends. I stayed for four nights a place called the Fisherman?s Inn and dove for three days with Diver Down. This was a great yet inexpensive wreck diving trip! The Fisherman?s Inn was not fancy, but very clean and nice. The owner couldn?t have been friendlier; he had coffee out at 5:30 every morning, was helpful with suggestions for local dining and entertainment, and was good for casual conversation. Capitan Bob Cox and the dive masters of divers down were a lot of fun, and made sure that our trip greatly exceeded our expectations. While we were there, the Atlantic got a little rough; 8 to 10 foot seas with some chop. Rough, but manageable! We later found out that all of the other major dive operations either never went out or stayed inshore. Capitan Bob gave us the choice and we took it; we didn?t drive 13hrs from southern Indiana for nothing, we came to see the off-shore wrecks. What great intact (for the most part) wrecks they were. We dove the U-352 Sub twice, the Papoose, the W.E. Hutton, the Aeolus, the Spar, and the Schurz. Every dive had about 80-100ft visibility. With a group rate, for the diving and stay at the Fisherman?s Inn, we paid about $550 per person. Great trip, I?m going back this year!
