3 divers were killed yesterday on the Spiegel Grove!
The 3 divers had penetrated the wreck with a4th as a safety outside. The safety diver ran out of air and barely made it to the surface. Rescue divers have so far recovered 1 body. The other 2 are very deep in the wreck and a special attempt will be made today to recover the bodies.

Just remember not to dive past your limits and never underestimate the danger of wreck. Also remember that you have to get out of whatever you go into...

As I was always taught (and subsequently taught others), Wrecks are just man-made caves with sharper edges. If you plan on a penetration dive on any wreck, the same precautions should be taken as a cave dive.
In any case, very sad news. My fondest thought to the families.

Every dive has it's inherent risks. How we approach that diving situation is up to each diver and what safety precautions they wish to take. Personally I love technical and difficult dives, but only if I'm prepared for it by having the proper equipment, mindset, preparation and training.
Diving to past 100', on single tanks, removing them to get thru a restriction, silting out, getting lost with the futile plan of trying to find a strobe light in a silted out condition to get you home, and not using a reel to not get lost in my opinion is way pushing the limits.
My condolences to the families and friends of those divers.
