I am one of the guys that never go on head boats, been diving for long time. Go all the time. Over the years I have gathered lots of dive sites from Tampa to the Dry Tortugas. Most of these are in Loran. I use my North Star GPS to convert them to GPS hundreths, exampl. XX XX XXX. I am finding that there is a big error, There are several computer software programs out there, the ones I tried just don't work I would like to find a program that works or even better yet get a working loran of some quality. Any ideas from any one would be appreciated Island hopper

TKS for thr reply Richesb,

That's sounds good, but I need more information on Andren, actually this generates questions. Do you use this software? How do I find out more about it? I have already purchased software that was reccomended and it's not worth the trouble. I just would like to see it convert before I purchase it. I have converted with the north star and created a chart page ,matched the converson with a know near by location, then with math zeroed in on the correct number. This is too much trouble almost much as gettin software that don't work. Please tell me more about Andren.

I don't own the software. My neighbor does. He has converted numerous numbers for me and they are dead accurate (debis piles , middle of "nowhere"). Andren is the name of the software company. It is/has been used by all the local capt's here. Just remember - like all #'s garbage in garbage out. If the numbers are worth the trouble , they are worth the investment.
I've dove probably 20 -30 3's that have been converted by friends to actually check them. All accurate.
