I have two young daughters who love to snorkel in the keys when we are down there and are bugging me to go snorkeling at home. I live in Jupiter. Can anyone suggest any shallow snorkeling spots in the Palm Beach/Jupiter area. Any GPS coordinates out there for any kid friendly spots? Thanks. Rich

One spot a friend who lived in Jupiter showed me was the entrance to Riviera Beach...on the SOUTH side of the Jetties about halfway down or so near the groin where he often used to take friends, and his grandchildren when the weather sucked. He anchored in about 10 ft of water if I recall rightly...its been a lonngggg time since I was there...best to check it out ahead of time to make sure I am giving relible info as times do change.

The rocks have all sorts of critters to watch, including wrasse and shrimp cleaning stations, manatees, etc.

There is some coral right up to the shore line at the south end of red reef park on A1A in Boca Raton. They've also put some piles of rocks as an artificial reef about 20-30 yards offshore in the middle of the park. (about 10 to 12 feet of water) Not much on the rocks but quite a few fish and some sponges. We saw a couple of sting rays in May.

in jupiter there is the bridge to Jupiter Island on Beach Road locally called Cato's bridge, but it probably has a different name. Good snorkeling on the west side, nice rocks. The east side has sand and seagrass and is cool too if you are into different habitats.

the big dog so to speak is coral cove park, same road, over the bridge and keep going until you see it, can't miss it. comes up on the right hand side, (east) of the road. 100s of acres of prime snorkeling.
